For Cameron Studios

I can convert that dusty old box of tapes into digital files that fit on a single USB thumb drive or a collection of DVDs.

Bring those family memories to the present.

How it Works

I collect the tapes from you

I can meet you for pickup or provide an address for drop off.

I charge a travel fee for pickup if you are not local.

Your tapes can also be mailed to me if desired (but this method is not recommended)

Your tapes are converted to digital video files

I play each tape through a specialized tool that records the playback as an individual video file.

I measure the data size of the entire collection of video files and obtain a USB thumb drive and/or a set of DVDs that can store all of the video files as requested.

The purchase price of the USB thumb drive or DVDs consumed will be added to your final cost.

Digital files are moved to a USB or collection of DVDs and everything is returned to you

I copy the entire collection of converted files onto a USB thumb drive or DVDs as requested.

I return your tapes back to you along with the new USB or DVD collection.

What do you do with my video files after everything is complete?

I keep a copy of the video files on my machine for 30 days in case you lose or damage the USB or DVDs that have been delivered.

Replacements can be created during this time period for an additional cost.

After 30 days have passed – all files are permanently deleted from my machine.

Please Note

  • I can convert DVDs, standard VHS tapes, VHS type C tapes, Mini DV tapes, and Hi8 tapes to digital video files.
  • Files are saved as a playable .mp4 unless another file type is specifically requested.
  • I DO NOT recommend converting tapes to DVD. DVDs can be easily lost and damaged much like the original tapes. A USB thumb drive or external Hard Drive storage device allows you to transfer your video files to the cloud (Google Drive, iCloud, One Drive, etc.) or a personal device (like a laptop or desktop computer) for more permanent and secure storage.
  • I have to watch each and every tape as it converts so please be mindful of the content on each tape.
  • I will attempt to give the converted video files names that match the contents of the video. You can rename the video file later as desired.
  • Tapes are rarely stored properly in people’s homes and tape deterioration can occur over time for a number of reasons. This can create both video and sound loss, physical weakness in the tape leading to breaks or damage during playback, a loss of visual quality, and other anomalies when attempting to convert. I am not liable for any of the above conditions while your tapes are in my possession.

Contact me for rates and availability.

Rates are determined by total number of tapes to be converted and USB cost. There is an additional cost for clients requesting the tapes be converted to DVDs instead of the recommended USB storage.
